THE PRACTICAL STEPS
Use this on your own business. Start with the part that is getting in the way of a good customer enquiry.
TEST: Ask someone new what you do after a quick look at your first screen. FIX: Say the service, who it helps and the result. "Boiler repairs for Stratford homes" beats "Innovative solutions for tomorrow".
TEST: Can a visitor spot the main next step? FIX: Pick one clear action for the page, such as "Get a quote". Use the same wording where you repeat it.
TEST: Is there evidence beside your biggest promise? FIX: Add a real example, named review with permission, or clear explanation of your work. Do not invent numbers or badges.
TEST: Use it with one thumb. FIX: Make text readable, buttons easy to tap and menus simple. Check that banners do not cover the form.
TEST: Try PageSpeed Insights, then use a real phone. FIX: Resize heavy images and remove needless scripts. Fix the cause shown in the report. A perfect score is not a sales target.
TEST: Read the ad, then the first screen. FIX: Match the service, offer and location. Send a boiler-repair ad to boiler repairs, not a vague homepage.
TEST: Can you explain why you need every field now? FIX: Ask only what you need for the next step. A free guide usually needs a name and email, not a phone number and life story.
TEST: Send a valid test. Then try a missing email. FIX: Show useful errors, a clear success message and the next step. Check the enquiry reaches the right person.
TEST: Can people find price guidance, timing and what happens next? FIX: Explain what affects price if you cannot quote it. Be clear about who the service suits.
TEST: Does your report separate views, enquiries and sales? FIX: Record a lead only after a successful enquiry. Keep button clicks and form starts as separate measures.
Write down the problem, the change needed, who will do it and when. Then test the customer journey again. A checklist only helps when something gets fixed.
